About Louise:  Louise Brazier creates with a variety of media – acrylic, pastel, alcohol ink, encaustics, watercolour, clay, and more. She will be demonstrating during the tour.

I moved to Nipawin in 2000, and started taking University of Saskatchewan art classes in sculpture, drawing, painting, and art history. I have furthered my skills at numerous workshops, both local and as far away as Tofino, B.C., at the Kenderdine Campus at Emma Lake, and at the Assiniboia Art Retreat. Painting with the group at the historic Kenderdine Campus has instilled a love for en plein air painting. After retiring from teaching in 2008, I was able to take several sketching trips with Saskatoon artist Cecelia Jurgens to Greece, Ireland, Italy, Quebec City, Newfoundland, Germany, and Spain and Portugal. Nowadays, I never travel without my watercolours and a sketchbook.

My latest project is transforming photos and sketches from these trips into acrylic paintings for an upcoming show at the Nipawin Art Gallery. One of my favourite subjects is the icebergs and penguins from my trip to Antarctica.

Lately, I have had a few art students for painting and/or pottery, both children and adults. That keeps me energized. I also offer Paint-a-long classes for larger groups.
